My Painful Journey Through Truthseeker's Pass in Wuthering Waves

Wuthering Waves' Truthseeker's Pass guide: solve Photon Barriers, Chronosorters, and Clang Bang puzzles to uncover Jinhsi's story.

I still remember the first time I opened my quest log and saw Truthseeker's Pass staring back at me. It was the seventh act of Wuthering Waves' first chapter, and I had just finished pulling for Jinhsi—my premium currency was gone, but my curiosity was not. "How hard could a few puzzles be?" I asked myself. Spoiler: harder than I expected, mostly because the game insists on naming everything like a physics exam. Levitators? Photon Barriers? Chronosorters? Clang Bangs? Why does every mechanic sound like it belongs in a sci-fi thesis? If you're like me and just want to uncover more of Jinhsi's story without losing your mind, this is the guide I wish I'd had.

Starting the Quest and Breaking the First Barrier

Everything begins at the Resonance Beacon east of Xuanji Ridges. I fast-traveled there, stretched my fingers, and told myself I was ready. The first obstacle? A Photon Barrier blocking the gate. Here's what I did:

  • Spun the wheel once to the right and twice to the left. The barrier flickered and died. Simple enough, right?

  • Stood on the platform to the right to boost myself up the mountain.

  • Found a gold rock—a Tacetite Fulminate—and threw it at the cracks in the Ledge Wheels. A path appeared.

  • Interacted with the spherical device below to turn off the Photonvault. I moved the wheel right once, then used a pistol-wielding character (I chose Chixia) to shoot the golden spheres on the gate.

And just like that, I was inside Truthseeker's Pass. The first Flare Stone was waiting. I activated it, then put out the Flare Crest. One star down, two to go. "That wasn't so bad," I thought. Famous last words.

The Middle Tier Chamber: A Puzzle Lover's Nightmare

The next chamber had me scratching my head. I had to exit the middle tier area, and the steps felt like a choreographed dance. Here's the sequence that finally worked:

  1. Interacted with the spherical device in front of me and pressed the left arrow once.

  2. Climbed the platforms ahead and interacted with the Echo Challenge.

  3. Turned into a Clang Bang and stood on the Leap Device below. I leaped and smashed through the ice on the wall ahead. (Being a bouncing rock creature is oddly satisfying, I'll admit.)

  4. Used the second Chronosorter: left arrow, then right arrow.

  5. Grabbed the Tacetite Fulminate rock in the room ahead and broke the cracked wall on the left.

  6. Defeated the wolf enemy. After that, I operated the spherical Chronosorter and pressed the left arrow once to clear the way.

  7. Headed back to the first spherical Chronosorter and pressed the left arrow once again.

  8. Used a pistol character to break the golden spheres on the sides. The exit finally opened.

I activated the second Flare Stone and put out its Flare Crest. Two stars gone. I was starting to feel like a proper truthseeker—or at least a very persistent one.

The Final Puzzle and the Boss Fight

The last chamber was the trickiest. I had to shoot the golden spheres with a pistol character first. Then I operated the Chronosorter and pressed the right arrow, followed by the left arrow once. That's when a level 67 Lumiscale Construct Severedge appeared. "Of course," I sighed. "A boss fight." My team was decent—Jiyan, Calcharo, and Yinlin—so the battle didn't take too long, but I wouldn't recommend trying it underleveled. Keep your five-star characters ready if you have them.

With the boss defeated and the puzzle solved, I activated the third Flare Stone and put out the last Flare Crest. Three stars, three puzzles, and one very tired player. All that was left was to head to the Carrier Lift and enter the secret tunnel to begin Road of Pilgrimage, the second quest in the 1.1 update.

A Word About Rewards

Here's something that confused me: the quest log promised a series of rewards, but I didn't get them immediately after finishing Truthseeker's Pass. Instead, I had to complete the entire questline. So don't panic if your inventory doesn't light up right away. Patience, fellow Rover.

Looking back, Truthseeker's Pass is a perfect example of what makes Wuthering Waves both frustrating and addictive. The puzzles are clever, the jargon is confusing, and the story keeps you hooked. Would I do it again? Probably not. But am I glad I pushed through? Absolutely. And if you're stuck, just remember: left, right, left, shoot the orbs, and never underestimate the power of a thrown rock. 🪨✨
